For Patients

Making an appointment

For an appointment with a physiotherapist, psychologist or GP, you do not need a referral. Simply call to make an appointment. A health care plan provided by a GP is accepted by the psychologist and physiotherapist. To see any other specialist at the centre, you will need a referral from a GP.

The centre uses a computerised system to send helpful recalls and reminders via SMS or mail to patients about suggested follow-up tests and visits. If you do not wish to participate in this recall and reminder system, please advise your health provider.

This is a private practice. Some costs may be billable to Medicare or your private health fund; all other costs are payable on the day.

If you have any questions about possible costs, or to make an appointment please call  03 5821 3555.

We are also a well-equipped general practice open to patients of all ages, both male and female.  If you urgently need to see a GP, we aim for same day service.

Fees

Fees are based on the length and/or reason for the consultation. The health providers do not routinely bulk bill.

Patients are asked to pay for their visit in full on the day of the appointment. We accept EFTPOS and cash.  We do not accept cheques.

Credit card details will be required for telehealth consultations prior to the appointment. A link from HotDoc will be sent to you electronically for completion. If credit card details are not provided within 30 minutes your appointment may be cancelled.

EFTPOS facilities are available and Medicare claims can be submitted on your behalf at the centre. Any rebate, if applicable, will be reimbursed to you directly from Medicare.  For this to occur, please ensure Medicare have your bank account details.

For more information about the costs, please call to discuss with the Receptionist, ph: 03 5821 3555.

BILLING POLICY

Important Information About Fees and Appointments

We would like to remind you that this is a private medical practice, and our practitioners do not routinely bulk bill. As such, an out-of-pocket fee may apply to your consultation, which is payable on the day of your appointment unless prior payment arrangements have been made.

The decision not to routinely bulk bill reflects the increasing cost of providing safe, high-quality medical care. Medicare rebates have not kept pace with the costs involved in operating a medical practice, including the provision of nursing services, skilled reception staff, medical equipment, technology, and other essential practice services. In particular, Medicare Schedule fees have been indexed at rates substantially below increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the rising costs of running a practice.

Missed or Cancelled Appointments

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please provide at least 4 hours’ notice. Failure to attend an appointment or cancellation with less than 4 hours’ notice may result in a non-attendance or late-cancellation fee.

Outstanding Accounts

Please ensure that any outstanding invoices are paid promptly. Future appointment requests may be declined while there are outstanding fees on your account, until the balance has been paid in full.

Medicare and Insurance Details

Please advise reception promptly of any changes to your Medicare, private health insurance, or other relevant insurance details so that we can ensure your records and billing information remain up to date.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting our practice in continuing to provide safe, high-quality care.

Immunisations

Find the option that is best for you.

The Nurses and GPs provide a comprehensive immunisation service.

We stock the complete range of government funded vaccines which includes childhood immunisations, immunisations for the pregnant couple, influenza, pneumococcal and shingles vaccines.  “Catch up” immunisations for those who are not appropriately immunised are also available.

The whooping cough vaccine is available to all family members who require vaccination prior to the birth of a child. This is a non-government funded vaccine.

Shepparton Women’s Health Centre also stock a range of private standard vaccines that are generally available at the time of consultation. A small overhead cost is applied to each private vaccine cost base to cover transport, quality control, temperature requirements and nursing admin time.

While every effort is made to have the vaccines available, it can vary depending on availability from suppliers and peak demand periods.

We can also provide advice on the relevant vaccines when travelling overseas.

For any questions relating to immunisations, please call 03 5821 3555.
