Donna has been a Registered Nurse since 1995 after completing her Bachelor of Nursing at La Trobe University in Bendigo. She then moved to Melbourne and worked at the Alfred Hospital for 3 years before returning to the Goulburn Valley area where she grew up.
In 2000, Donna completed a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing (Majoring in Community Nursing) at La Trobe University, and in 2015 obtained her Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education from Curtin University of Technology.
Donna continued on with her study in 2017, completing her Masters of Nursing Practice at Deakin University in 2018. She has been endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Nurse Practitioner with notations in Primary Care and Acute and Community Care since January 2019.
Delivering care to individuals from all backgrounds, Donna has been working in primary care for over 20 years, providing all aspects of Practice Nursing to the community with additional training over this time as a:
• Nurse Immuniser
• Certified Cervical Screening Provider
• Quit Smoking Educator
• Credentialled Diabetes Educator
She also runs the LIFE! program, a Victorian funded diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention program:
Donna’s advanced level nursing as a Nurse Practitioner allows her to provide screening, diagnosis and management of specific conditions within her scope of practice. These relate to all her specialty training with additional special interests in assistance for individuals seeking extra support for:
• Weight loss
• Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
• Improving fertility
• Reducing heart attack, stroke and cancer risks
• Preventing Diabetes
• Managing Sexual and Reproductive Health
Donna has been a member of the team at Shepparton Women’s Health Centre since 2016 and has been working in the Aboriginal Health setting locally since 1998 and is passionate about prevention of illness and chronic disease.
She works collaboratively with many health professionals and takes outside referrals or self-referral for new patients.
